Innocence

By Jeffrey Arce.
Oh sweet innocent child,
My beautiful little girl.
With such a pretty little smile,
Not a care in the world.
You dance and play,
The troubles of our days,
Not even a factor in your sway.
Oh sweet innocent child,
My beautiful little girl.
One day your innocence will be defiled,
One day by the darkness of the world.
From smiles and cheers,
To betrayal and tears,
The corruption of society,
Will build a slave out of your fears,
Your doubts,
Your insecurities,
Your peers,
Will be used against you,
To insure your preset place in this world.
Oh sweet innocent child,
My beautiful little girl.
Is it vanity,
Or insanity,
That will claim your soul,
Swallow your goals,
And destroy your world.
Until one day,
You are looking down into your own daughter's cradle, and say,
Oh sweet innocent child,
My beautiful little girl.
What future lie before you?
What pain?
What hate?
What misery?
What fate?
Oh sweet innocent child.
Just go to sleep now,
And pray,
you never wake.

The wick that fuels this flame of what little hope I have left is starting to burn low, and the warmth of the light is beginning to fade from my cold skin. The once brilliant light is dying; now only a trembling flicker. The wax of the candle is spread across the floor before me, and has become hard like the shell of my empty heart. Soon there will be nothing; soon there will only be darkness. Perhaps then, there will finally be peace.

Intelligent Inprisonment

Pain is draining my brain
And the damn game
That I'm playing
Became insane.
The world is now about fame,
And our children inane,
By the media and the train of thoughtless illusions being poured into their brain.
Because the mistakes that we make today,
Will be the limbs of our offspring that we continue to maim,
And therein the future of our future left to live as withered remains,
Of the potential humans had
Before the world gave in to the wealthy man's reign.
