A short excerpt from my novel.

Tracy and Mike were still in the room, thinking about the challenges that lay ahead for the both of them, in this vague strategy to take back the world. Tracy was examining one of the X-5 Handguns in his hands, as he spoke quietly to Mike.
“So this is what people use to gain power... We kill each other with these things?” He asked in a disgusted manner.
“Yes...” Mike answered with a grim look upon his face. “Unfortunately, fear is one of the most desirable forms of power of the human race these days.”
“Why?”
Mike shrugged his shoulders and replied, “Because it works. Once upon a time, a caveman told another caveman that if he didn’t give him all of his food, a powerful dragon in the sky would set him on fire. Fearing the worst, the caveman surrendered his food. Now we just shoot each other.”
